I don't listen to all songs. I don't listen to more than 1 minute of the songs I listen to. Therefore, it only takes between 20-40 minutes.

    1. 1969 (Ross Hannaman)

The song borrows heavily from Beethoven's evergreen (albeit uncredited) but I think it's a total cracker. I had never heard of this singer before, she sounds partially Mary Hopkin, partially Petula Clark.

    2. Superstar (J.C.S.)
I'd choose Carl Anderson's version because he was the sexier Judas.

    3. I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You (Linda Lewis)

    4. Everything's Alright (Friday Brown)

    5. Engine Of Love
But only the original 1977 recording, not the musical version.

    6. Don't Cry For Me Argentina

    7. It's Easy For You (Elvis Presley)

    8. Probably On Thursday (Ross Hannaman)

    9. Could We Start Again Please (Richard Barnes)

    10. Christmas Dream (Perry Como)
This song has "Cliff Richard" written all over it, but he didn't do it.

Wow! So many great songs to chose from. This is not easy. But here it goes.

    1. Don't Cry for me Argentina (Evita)
This will have to be my number one since I have so many memories connected to this song. I remember watching "Evita" at the movies with my mom when it came out and I loved the movie. Also many years later I watched the Swedish version of the musical live on stage in Stockholm. I also used to sing this song when I took singing lessons as a teenager and I have visited Argentina and actually stood on the real balcony of the Casa Rosada where Evita once stood.

    2. Phantom of the Opera (Phantom of the Opera)
This song brings me back to my childhood. I remember listening to this when I was about 10 since it was included on a Swedish artist named Sofia Källgren's album. I loved this pop rendition of the song.

    3. You Must Love Me (Evita)
    I love this song too.

    4. Jesus Christ Superstar (Jesus Christ superstar)

This song appeals to the Christian in me. Also it's very, very catchy and there's something grand about it.

    5. With One Look (Sunset Boulevard)
This song makes me think of Elizabeth Taylor since she was a star who could convey so much with just one look.

    6. Memory (Cats)
This song is the best thing about this musical.

    7. The Perfect Year (Sunset Boulevard)
    8. Love Changes Everything (Aspects of Love)
    9. I Don't Know How To Love Him (Jesus Christ Superstar)
    10. All I ask of You (Phantom Of the Opera)

Also I like this Swedish version of "I Don't Know How To Love Him" with Agnetha Fältskog:

It really makes a difference who sings what.

Madonna and Sarah Brightman's versions of DCFMA sound very crafted and well-produced, but not as "spontaneous" and effortless as Julie Covington's recording of the smash anthem (imho)

You can't beat a bit of Covington. This was the B-side of her original single version of 'Don't Fry for Me Alf & Tina' and it sounded amazing, not like anything I'd ever heard before; it's like the singer and the song are falling backwards down a flight of downstairs.

Yes it does sound like it - staircase moment, the musical!

They need to adore me, so Christian Dior-me
    !

I think the best singer, or let's say, the most suitable voice for a particular song, is the one that's so good that you don't hear how good it is.
Like I said before, Brightman's version is good, but if she had been singing her grocery shopping list it wouldn't have made any difference to me.

Thats an interesting connection to find Willie.

As far as I am aware they are not related in any way and I couldn't find anything on google that connects them either :)
