How could I resist listening to a track with such a title?

It's really quite catchy. I like it!

    Evanescence

    evanescence.jpg

With the release of a new album of re-recordings and a couple of new tracks, I thought we could delve into a little Evanescence

Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. After recording independent albums, the band released their first full-length album, Fallen, on Wind-up Records in 2003. Fallen sold more than 17 million copies worldwide and helped the band win two Grammy Awards out of seven nominations, as well as scoring number six in CBS's "Top Bestselling Albums of the Last 10 Years".

    Bless you, @Ome.

So amazing is the new album I've been listening to it day in/day out for the past ten days and can barely think about anything else at the moment. So this is just perfect.

My top ten this time round is going to look very different to the previous one, methinks.

I've only heard the new version of Bring Me to Life and the new song Imperfection.

I'm really loving Imperfection, the intro is brilliant. I've just found the 6+ minutes of this version.

I love what they've done with BMTL, which sounds so dramatic now. The whole album is great. It's a treat to hear some of these tracks revisited in a more nuanced way.

I'm surprised which tracks are speaking to me the most. I thought it would be the new versions of old favourites, but the ones getting the most play are the ones that weren't favourites at all in their original versions. The new versions have led me back to give the earlier versions another chance, which is a very good thing.

Isn't it epic? It took a few plays to grow on me but it clicked in a big way. It's my goto track at the moment and my most-played track from the album by far.

    1. Good Enough
Hauntingly fragile lyrics follow the most beautiful intro ever. A winning combination.

    2. Imperfection
Hopeful. Empowering. Uplifting. Truthful. The two minute intro, The In-Between, adds yet more beauty and the video turns an already epic song into a James Bond theme.

    3. Lithium
A rocking power ballad to end all rocking power ballads.

    4. Call Me When You’re Sober
    A cracker of a "you're dumped" anthem.

    5. Missing
Sadness runs all the way through it like an out of date stick of rock. But it's beautiful too.

    6. Never Go Back [Synthesis Version]
Ev revisit a high octane track that sounds like a superhero action sequence and turn it into something darker, more theatrical and far richer. The pounding, driving beat in the second verse (from two minutes in) compels one to feel this song.

    7. Everybody’s Fool

My most-played Ev track and listening to it again has reminded me why.

    8. Sweet Sacrifice
Angry, bitter and so cathartic to sing along with. A great vocal from Amy here.

    9. Secret Door
The opening harp is captivating, as is the entire lovely song.

    10. Farther Away
Another one with a tribal sound running through it. This one has never gone out of favour with me.

    Billy Idol

    Billy-Idol-Picture-Studded-Bracelets.jpg

William Michael Albert Broad (born 30 Nov 1955), known professionally as Billy Idol, is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. He first achieved fame in the 1970s as a member of the punk rock band Generation X. Subsequently, he embarked on a solo career which led to international recognition and made Idol one of the lead artists during the MTV-driven "Second British Invasion" in the United States.
Idol began his career in late 1976 as a guitarist in the punk rock band Chelsea. However, he soon left the group and along with his bandmate Tony James formed Generation X with Idol being the lead singer. The band achieved success in the United Kingdom and released three albums on Chrysalis Records before disbanding. In 1981, Idol moved to New York City to pursue his solo career in collaboration with guitarist Steve Stevens. His debut studio album Billy Idol (1982) was a commercial success and with music videos for singles "Dancing with Myself" and "White Wedding" Idol soon became a staple of then newly established MTV.
