upload_2018-7-1_18-2-29.png This is not for the single slaps and punches, there has to be a physical reaction.

Do you have 5 favourite soap-fight scenes?

    About 2005
    1. The epic Lily pond. The epitome of fights. Alexis and Krystle splash it out. Such fun

    2. As much as this wasn’t my favourite storyline in the world, kudos to the visuals and staging of Linda vs Linda as Krystle knocks out Rita at last

    3. Poolside Dallas at JR and Sue Ellen’s wedding with Cliff and Bobby

    4. Alexis and Krystle mud slide. ‘Have you still got mud in your ear dear?’

    5. Alexis and Krystle in the studio with K hiffing A around. Very clever and funny

    6. Soz I have to do a sixth, the Dynasty Reunion where our two leading ladies slap it out among the sequins. I’m sure this is their way of showing their love and affection for each other. Very fine line between love and hate lol ;-)

I can only really think of Dynasty catfights. I cant remember the details of the Dallas fights or pool bombings. I will wait to see what others post before I make my list. It's been so long since I have watched these soaps. Even Dynasty must be about a year ago last time I watched.

I always pictured Dallas as the home of "photogenic slugfests" happening every few episodes. Knots Landing had a few, but the best "physical confrontations" were one-punch, one-slap type affairs that I don't think are 'fights' per se. So even as I nominate those few true fights, I don't think most of them would be classified as "remarkable".
Gary's "Ewing pedigree" does seem to carry over into this list though.

    1. Danny Waleska gives Gary a beat-down at the ranch, KL. It was a spin on a similar scene the previous season when Gary threatened Danny with a bat---only Danny really does hit Gary with the bat, breaking Gary's arm.

    2. Eric and Michael duke it out in the living room, KL. Having Paige living there (walking around in her slip and/or short bathrobes) got the two brothers at one another's throats (among other body parts), something you'd never expect from those two Boy Scouts. Losses included a cocktail table, a painting, and a lamp. At least Gary wasn't in the middle of this one.

    3. Beating down the lame 'street gang' in season one, KL. Unintentionally funny bit where the men of the cul-de-sac beat up some motorcycle-riding hoods who had the nerve to turn over the garbage cans and abduct Diana. If only they had thought this through and let them keep her.

    4. Gary beats the stuffing out of Ray Geary, KL. Cathy's abusive ex bit off more than he could chew with Gary playing Captain Save-A-'Ho for his newest bit-on-the-side.

    5. Drunk Gary scuffles with Val in season one, KL. Val ends up with a black eye; Gary cuts his wrist on glass; and Laura has Gary committed by saying he was "trying to kill himself" when the cops show up. Just another Thursday night in suburbia.

Edited to add: I think it would be okay to nominate the "instant classics" on NuDynasty...right?

It's not really one of the 80s classics...TNT Dallas is an exception because it's still the same soap, only in another decade.
Similarly, we're not doing the 90s soaps but we can still vote for characters/scenes from the 1990s episodes of Dallas and Knots Landing.

I totally get that. But the Fallon/Alexis fight in that icy-cold pool still deserves a (non-soapland battle) gold star. :bravo:

I've always considered Krystle and Alexis' studio fight as "the mother of all soap fights", and the first time I watched it I was simply too emotionally involved and too excited to notice Joan's obvious stuntwoman. At that time it felt like a great payoff and I still think the fight itself is more than adequate for a soap series, but knowing that we only saw a few seconds of the real Alexis has tempered my enthusiasm big time.

    1. Dallas' Good Ole Oil Baron's Ball Brawl
Apart from being a bit of tongue-twister, this fight excels in mayhem, with some female screams for good measure.
The scenery makes it delicously inappropriate, much more than, say, a barbecue or any place close to water or mud.

    2. Half-brothers Chance McKenzie & Roy Champion
    upload_2018-7-3_19-0-21.png
At first glance this doesn't look so peculiar for a macho western soap like The Yellow Rose, and when the rest of the family silently watches it's almost the opposite of the Oil Baron's fight.
But these men are not enemies, in fact they're both leading, heroic characters. And sometimes that just doesn't work.
It's a fight with "layers" which I cannot describe in just one or two sentences. and the fact that it happens amid nervous cattle makes it even more exciting.

    3. Dynasty's Jeff Colby & Adam Carrington
    upload_2018-7-3_18-22-16.png
In later seasons, Adam (like JR Ewing) becomes everyone's punching bag and those scenes are very funny because he always tries to escape.
But in this scene from season 4 he's not so afraid, he's nasty and he taunts Jeff, and I like it when a villain has the upper hand for a while.

    4. Dynasty's Dex & Alexis' Dogfight.
    upload_2018-7-3_18-36-32.png
Male vs. female fights are not so common because it's so easy to make it look like abuse. I thought this fight was quite good (by soap standards) and if there was a stuntwoman then at least it wasn't very noticeable.

    5. Dynasty's Steven Carrington & Bart Fallmont's Steamy Tête-A-Tête
    upload_2018-7-3_18-51-51.png upload_2018-7-3_18-52-7.png
Because it's the most physically erotic thing Steven's ever done.

    My Top 5:

1- JR & Sue Ellen´s wedding group fight scene ("Dallas": "Post-Nuptial")
2- JR & Bobby´s second pool fight ("Dallas": "The Anniversary Waltz")
3- Steven & Bart (Fallmont) gym fight ("Dynasty": Season 6)
4- Cole & Greg Reardon fight ("Falcon Crest": Season 4)
5- Mark & Matt Los Gatos fight (meaow!) ("Dallas": "Missing")

PS: Yes I know that this list looks incredibly gay because it´s all about men fights, but I´d rather have that than men in drag pretending to be la Collins and la Evans!!

    upload_2018-7-3_21-25-26.jpeg

Why didn´t Marc Singer look this hot on "Dallas"?

    1) Krystle and Alexis catfight in the lily pond: The two rivals at it claws and hair pulling galore, before Blake intervenes. This type of seasonal occurrence between the two characters became a trait, which defined the Colorado show, among other things – DYNASTY.
    2) Cliff and JR throw punches at the wedding, only to end up in the Southfork pool: During his wedding to Sue Ellen ole JR gets all green eyed, as Cliff is there. Soon the pool starts to fill up with guests, after pushing and shoving. It is up to Bobby to put an end to the fight – DALLAS.
    3) The bar brawl between Jock and Tom Owens: Jock, Ray, Bobby and JR go on a hunting trip. They get involved in an altercation with a man from Jock’s past, in the oil business. Tom Owens is worse off, after the pub dust up – DALLAS.
    4) Lance gives Charley and Ian a deserved kicking: The brothers grim Charley and Ian St. James get what is coming to them, when they try to fight Lance in the foyer of the mansion. When martial arts come into play Lance gets the upper hand – FALCON CREST.
    5) Lance and Cole brawl outside the springhouse, over Melissa: The warring cousins Lance and Cole go knuckle for knuckle; when Lance spots Cole with Melissa, in the springhouse. Lance infuriates Cole when he calls him ‘Farm Boy’ – FALCON CREST.

Eric Stavros arrives at Falcon Crest. He is confronting Lance about a dodgy winery deal. Lance is in the pool, with Melissa, (a scene from season 6, 1986-’87):

Lance: “We were just discussing you Eric. Well looks like grandmother finally caught you, with your fingers in the cookie jar.”

Eric: “And we both know why. Don’t we Lance?”

Lance: “Melissa have Doris count the flatware when he leaves.”

Melissa: “Lance will you stop it! Eric what do you want?”

Eric: “You should know the kind of man you married. Slipping those cheques of Angelas’ in my room, for our little share a winery.”

Lance: “Your defensiveness is getting offensive Eric.”

Eric: “He is afraid of me Melissa. Afraid I will take you away from him. Weather I will do all the things in this Valley he is too weak to accomplish.”

Lance jumps off his pool lounger and shouts, “that’s the buzzer!”

He goes to fight the Stavros heir, while saying, “I’ll make you eat your words.”

Melissa: “Eric! Eric! I think you better leave.”

Eric: “Oh I’m going but if you think you’re going to chase me out of this Valley you’re wasting your time. I’m staying here!”

Lance: “You know those Stavros’ are really getting to be boring. I wish Angela done a better job of picking her husband.”

Melissa gives Lance a dirty look. He says to her, “what are you looking at?” She pushes him, into the pool.

    1. Krystle and Alexis's studio punchout
    Dynasty
    [IMG]

Flying feathers; funky soundtrack; snappy exit line. This one had been building for months and was worth the wait.

    2. Alexis and Krystle's lily pond rematch
    Dynasty
    [IMG]

    Iconic. And deservedly so.

    3. Combat At The Carlton
    Dynasty

    [IMG][IMG]
Although the Sable/Alexis catfight itself was underwhelming after years of anticipation, it did tick the camp fun box. And let's not forget that the scene overlapped with a typically homoerotic Dynasty dogfight between Jeff and Adam, giving us a double feature. As with Season Nine in general, well-worn cliches are renewed and refreshed by the writing. The entire scene is propelled by those favourite Dynasty subjects: incest and rape. And it only "slows down" long enough for a mid-scene bastardy revelation. In many ways, this is the best-crafted Dynasty fight because of the sheer scope of the subtext.

    4. Gary and Rusty's manly tussle
    Knots Landing

Multiple face thwacks. Kidney punches. Wives being thrown around. Gary's face getting well and truly bloodied. Über-dramatic "Battle Of The Planets" music. All in front of a cosy roaring fireplace.

There's a brutality that feels like it's from an old-time Western (except it feels distinctly Southern).

    5. The Great Southfork Wedding Brawl
    Dallas
    [IMG]

Like a lot of Dallas fights, this was more a series of random stunt-guests getting pushed than a fight. But it was worth it to see Clayton slug JR in the jaw.

And a special mention to the scene Doug Cramer, so legend has it, showed ABC executives to convince them to film my #1 choice...

Without which it would have been a very different Dynasty.

    It is indeed, Willie.

My pleasure. I'm always glad of an opportunity to post it because it's just so darned fun.

Notice how WW was the Krystle of the piece - all righteous indignation and unerring punches. Alexis, of course, would take her cues from Stella Stevens.

    1. Alexis and Krystle studio catfight. Iconic and so much fun.

    2. Oil Barons Brawl.

    3. Richard and his 'father' Henri Denault fight on an abandoned bridge in the Tuscany Valley. This was never gonna end well. (from 9.20)

    4. JR and Ray fight as Southfork burns.

    5. Krystle vs. Rita. Camp and ridiculous and that's why I love it.
