12 boys aged 13-16 & their football coach that have been stuck in a waterfilled cave system in Thailand since June 23 are still stuck. It took the rescue team 10 days to find out where they were. Now the problem is: how to get them out? It looks like the boys will have to learn how to dive, long-distance. Much of the cave system is filled with water, except for a few places.

Yesterday, a rescue attemp had to be aborted because the first waterless cave hole on the way out had too little oxygen.

The clock is also against them as a monsoon is heading towards them. If they don't get them out before the monsoon period, the boys may end up staying in the cave for 3-4 months. Good thing they were at least able to bring them food!!

I've been following this story too. A rescue worker died the other day. I really hope they will be able to get the boys out safely and that no other people are killed in the rescue mission!

Didn't a ferry capsize or sink in Phuket, Thailand this week with many casualties? Bad month for Thailand.

Seems like it. I don't remember the ferry sinking though.

    That's horrible! :(
But at least the boys in the cave has been found alive so that's good.

4 boys have been rescued. They had to be sedated for the long diving so they wouldn't panic. The 4 rescued boys have been taken to a hospital.

After a break, they will continue to bring out a few boys more. They estimate that it will take 3-4 days to get them all out.

Another 4 voys were rescued today. 4 boys plus their coach remain in the cave.

The 8 who have been rescued so far are in quarantine at a hospital because of the infection risk.

Terrific that it went well for them! I bet they were starting to lose hope before they were finally located. 9 days stuck in a cave without food and not knowing if anyone would ever find them.

R.I.P. to the pro diver that died.

I think the boys could make a fortune if they played their cards right by selling their stories to the press

they have been invited to the final of the world cup but i believe wont be going, on health grounds
England squad are sending them out shirts as one of the boys was wearing one
man U have invited them over as well as other clubs in Europe

#MUFC is relieved to learn that the 12 footballers and their coach trapped in a cave in Thailand are now safe. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected. We would love to welcome the team from Wild Boars Football Club and their rescuers to Old Trafford this coming season. pic.twitter.com/5CGMoD1

I admire the skill of the rescue committee and the English divers who first located them and very sad that a man lost his life
    Thats a huge sacrifice.

The boys have been released from the hospital today. They had a big Q&A press conference to get all curiosity out of the way so they can (hopefully) be left alone.
