Discussion in 'World Cup of Soaps' started by Angela Channing, Jul 30, 2018.
The vote closes at 8am on Monday.
Pam is recovering after her heated discussion with JR in the barn. She fell from the hayloft and sadly lost her baby. Bobby is watching on as Jock speaks to her, while she is in bed, (a scene from the mini-series, DVD-1, 1978):
"Little lady us Ewings are not an easy family to get on with, as you've found out. We've had our own way for so long that maybe it stood in the way of us being just people. I know you have no reason to really care but I want to keep my family together."
The vote for the Dallas qualifying round has now closed. Fifteen of us voted in total for 9 different characters. The results are as follows (3 points were given to first preferences, 2 points to second preferences and 1 point to third preferences):
John Ross: 3
The following 2 characters therefore qualify for the knock out round of the World Cup.
The next runner up was Jock Ewing who will now go through to join characters from the other soaps in a vote for a final chance to qualify.
Thank you everyone who voted in this round.
Details of the next vote (the Dynasty Qualification Round) will be posted later today.
Yay! Hip hip hooray Pam! I‘m a happy Victoriafan today ;-) insert *celebratory wiggle* Thank you @Angela Channing for that super news
To clarify what this round is about.
Blake, Krystle, Alexis and Fallon were chosen to automatically qualify for the knockout round of the contest. This round is to select 2 more Dynasty characters to join them in the next round.
Please select the THREE additional Dynasty characters you would like be part of the World Cup. List your choices in order of preference. You can give reasons for your vote which might help others with their choices but this is entirely optional, it's absolutely fine just to give the names.
As before, the top 2 characters of all the votes will go through to the next round and the character in third place will join characters from the other soaps in a final vote off for the remaining 2 places in the knock out rounds.
For the purpose of this game, characters will be categorised according to the soap in which they appeared in the most. Therefore Jeff Colby and Fallon Carrington will only be eligible to play as Dynasty characters whereas Sable, Jason, Monica, etc. will only be considered as characters from The Colbys even though they all appeared in both soaps.
Remember this is a game about the 80s prime time soaps so please do not consider characters as they appeared in the 2017 reboot series.
This week's vote will end at midnight on Sunday 12th August 2018.
1. Steven Carrington (a key character, involved in so many important storylines, deserves to be in the next round).
2. Jeff Colby (ditto).
3. Dominique Deveraux (loved that she was a strong, female, bitchy rival to Alexis).
1. Dex Dexter
2. Dominique Deveraux
3. Steve Carrington
1. Jeff Colby
2. Adam Carrington
3. Amanda Carrington
Long live the Barnes family !!! Digger would be proud they trounced old Jock!!
I never watched Dynasty, Die nasty or Dysentry as dear Terry called it, but
had to google them and
will vote as such!
Jeff Colby - as I thought he was handsome if i saw him in a magazine
prince Micheal - as i once saw Micheal praed in a play
walter lankershim - as dale Robertson was nice to Miss Ellie
I'm going to vote for Dynasty's most infamous and unfavourite underdogs:
2. Peter De Vilbis
3. Sarah Curtis
Edit: but since no-one else is going to vote for them, these votes will have no impact whatsoever.
1. Sammy Jo Dean
2. Caress Morell
3. Adam Carrington
My nominees are going to be dark and intense with bitchy undertones. Which means...
Adam does indeed look very dark and intense, and dangerously handsome.
Do you remember when Terry interviewed Stephen Fry and he came out as being an enthusiastic fan of Dallas and described Dynasty as being "rubbish" or some other equally derogatory term. Terry looked a bit heartbroken as he seemed to be a fan of both shows.
oh I always thought that Terry was more a Dallas fan, he championed it far more than Dysentry - and had far more Dallas cast on his show
Victoria P at Xmas was his biggest ever rating!
1. Sammy Jo
2. Adam Carrington
3. Claudia Blaisdel
1. Sammy Jo
1. Adam Carrington
2. Sammy Jo
3. Steven Carrington
This is a tough one because I love so many of the characters but here goes.
1: Steven: because he drove so much of the show's drama, particularly in the earlier seasons.
2: Sammy Jo: another character who is "good value for money" so to speak. Sammy Jo provided great drama and I love Heather Locklear.
3: Claudia: she was great in her earlier seasons and a bit underutilized in her later ones. I still think they missed a trick by not capitalizing on her rivalry with Sammy Jo in season 6, which as this scene proved (IMO), would've been delicious.
