Match 13: Krystle--she was the center of DYNASTY's first--and best--season despite how irrelevant she was becoming with every passing season after the third.
Match 14: Pam.
There would not have been DALLAS without Pam, and plus I liked David Aykroyd's Gary tons more. Even sober Ted's Shackelford's Gary was more clueless than a passed out David Aykroyd's Gary.
Match 13: Krystle Carrington
Match 14: Gary Ewing
Match 13 - Krystle Carrington: while she may have quickly descended into the sainted weepy victim she's often best remembered as today, Krystle was initially a flawed, complex, ballsy character, not afraid to stand up to Fallon and Alexis. Also, out of all the Flamingo Road characters, I didn't care much for Lane.
Match 14 - Gary Ewing: I love Knots Landing but in addition to that, Gary led a much more colourful life than Pam. Yes, he was a mess but his life was a fun mess to watch. The fact that he was buoyed by the two powerhouses that were Val and Abby, didn't hurt his character either.
1. Krystle Grant Jennings Carrington
She was great as the tormented wife of the Dynasty tycoon.
2. Gary Ewing
1. he was almost the king of Tidal Energy
2. he bothered to show up on TNT Dallas
3. he married this world cup's future winner
Match 13: Krystle
Match 14: Pamela
Oh no another match I didn't want. Gary vs Pam is not an easy choice.
But my votes go to:
Melissa Agretti must also be up there with having the best laugh.
Round 13 - Krystle
Round 14 - Gary
Is JR correct? Either Gary or Pam could still win their Match. It's less close in the match between Krystle and Lane.
Vote for your winner of these matches by midnight on Sunday when the polls close.
Pam clearly needs some PR. Gary is beating her so far by one vote. People. This IS the most Beautiful woman on television. They were the sweetest couple on tv. He has already been voted out. Other than JR and Sue Ellen she WAS Dallas. She was one of the most lovely, kindest characters in all Soapdom. Give me a P. Give me an A. Give me an M. Paaaammm ;-)
Match 13: Krystle
Match 14: Gary
Match 13): Krystle
Match 14): Pamela
Victoria Principal is having a snooze in LA, by the way. Patrick Duffy knocks on her door, (a scene from the reunion 'Return To Southfork'; DVD - 4, 2004):
Victoria: "Oh Patrick!"
Patrick: "Victoria the charity people are waiting downstairs. You're gonna be late, for the lunch."
Victoria: "I fell asleep but listen I had the most vivid dream. I dreamed the entire cast of DALLAS was at Southfork, for a really big reunion and it was so real."
Patrick: "Not again!"
Victoria winks and smiles at the camera. The reunion ends. The theme music commences and the credits appear.
The poll has now closed and the votes have been counted and verified and the totals for your votes in last week's matches are as follows:
Krystle Carrington - 15
Lane Ballou - 2
Gary Ewing - 11
Pamela Ewing - 7
The characters going through to the next round are confirmed as:
Thank you to everyone who voted in these matches: an easy win for Krystle, and Gary turned out not to be such a loser after all.
Details of the final 2 round one matches will follow later today.
So we bid a sad farewell to Pamela Ewing and Lane Ballou. Personally, I'm disappointed that both these characters were knocked out, especially Lane as she was the last representative of Flamingo Road left in the contest. The players board has now been updated:
Fourteen characters have now gone through to the next round and 14 have been eliminated. The 4 players left to complete their first round matches are Melissa Agretti, Cliff Barnes, Jeff Colby and Valene Ewing but who will be playing against who? Full details will follow later today.
The vote is now open.
Cliff is my second favourite loser-with-a-persecution-complex in Soapland. I don't even need to think about this one...
It seems fitting that two originally lower key characters who went on to be a big part of their respective spin-offs should compete. But there's no competition for me. It has to be...
