    I hope!

If I have to wait another year I'd have to re-rewatch it all over again (not a bad idea at all, btw) so I figured let's just start the thread and see what happens.
In case it catches on then I don't consider myself the "host" of this thread, it would be nice if we all start a theme we would like to do because then there's the element of surprise for everyone who wants to participate.

Needless to say it's not mandatory to do every top ten theme. Furthermore, this is not for a "club", everyone can join whenever they feel like it.

    Oh my goodness.

    Despite
Because of the fact I've already forgotten half of what I watched, this is giddily exciting.

Yes I think it will take a lot of scrolling and reading, but the S&D UK website is very useful for actor/character-based top tens.
Can't wait to relive the schemes, romances and emotional turmoil. And since everything happened on* S&D there will be no shortage of topics.

*is it on or in? I always hesitate when I use it in a post.

Over here, we've always traditionally said in, but when posting about American shows I find myself wanting to write on, probably because they always say "Previously on ..." at the start of US series. Intuitively, I'd say Aussies are more inny than onny.

Ah yes of course, the previously/last time/next time on...
But I would never say what happened on X Movie Title.

I'd rather not tag any members because I find it so pushy, but I'm not sure what to do now.

    1. Rowena Wallace - she had to do everything and it was always entertaining and often very impressive to watch.
    2. Pat MacDonald - another actress who understood the power of good melodrama. She played it with flair and a great sense of humour.
    3. Leila Hayes - for all the tears and sadness and fabulous bitch-slaps. Oh, and she could take a splash of canned beer.
    4. Cornelia Frances - I love how she brought tension to the scenes even just by being on the set, and never failed in the most difficult parts.
    5. Judy Nunn - I think this was a case of "love at first sight". It didn't really matter what she played, it always felt good.
    6. Ilona Rodgers - she had to play one of the most schizophrenic characters, various mood swings happening within the same scene. It deserves praise.
    7. Julie Hamilton - I thought she was perfect in her role of the soft-hearted crook Beth Newman.
    8. Sarah Kemp - it takes a real trooper to play such a bizarre character with an affinity for Queen's English for such a long time. "One never knows, does one?"
    9. Lyndel Rowe - She tornadoed through the series in Karen Fox's high heels and proved that you don't have to be in Dynasty to have an attitude.
    10. Anne Haddy - the eccentric housekeeper is not one of my favourite characters, but the performance was consistent and colourful. It just took me a while to appreciate it.

But I like all the others too!

Now - do I vote for best actresses or favourites? I've tried to work it out based on a bit of both.

    1. Rowena Wallace

A true tour de force. Rowie kept Patricia boo-hissable, unpredictable and vulnerable. The steely hard exterior covering the fragile and damaged psyche. Without her, there’s no Sons and Daughters.

    2. Cornelia Frances
Simply because she is Cornelia Frances. Such a formidable presence and full of charisma and humour. She gave the best glaring freeze frame.

    3. Leila Hayes
Leila was the female revelation of my recent series rewatch. She could do wonders with any scene, no matter how small or ordinary. And she certainly didn’t shy away from going out there with the drama.

    4. Anne Haddy
Rosie’s nervousness and over-humility could have been annoying, but Anne played it beautifully. I believed her relationships and her evident lack of self-esteem. That scene in which she told Wayne she didn’t want to be his friend anymore was incredibly moving because of the truth she brought to that moment.

    5. Judy Nunn
Judy brought such life with her, the world of Sons and Daughters was suddenly crackling with a new, exciting energy. By the time Irene offered to show Karen Fox the door I wanted to stand up and cheer. She was under-utilised on the show in my opinion, but she made every moment count.

    6. Pat McDonald
Particularly in early episodes, Pat could do fun like nobody else and could also take the audience on an emotional journey. Her wordless performance when Fiona discovered her son’s grave had been dug up moves me just thinking about it.

    7. Rona Coleman
Another under-utilised actress. But she helped make the O’Briens household one of dysfunctional believability.

    8. Belinda Giblin
She convinced me - from time to time - that she was Patricia. Stepping into such an iconic role should not have worked. Belinda is a large part of the reason it did. It’s easy to see why the powers that be sought her out and kept offering more money.

    9. Ilona Rodgers
Like Patricia, Margaret was a character who covered a lot of emotional ground in a very short space of time. She remained fascinating and Ilona sparked so well off Rowena Wallace.

    10. Kati Edwards
She may not have appeared in a major role nor in many episodes, but I found every single scene with the Hansens compelling. And I found myself filled with empathy for them in their plight. Kati did a wonderful job as poor Enid was clobbered with heartache after heartache.
