Donald Trump has landed in the UK.

Just before landing, he tweeted calling the London mayor a 'stone cold loser'. I see.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-48462241

Daniel Mcilhiney of Trump UK told BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme that the UK needs to respect the US president.

Daniel Mcilhiney, from Trump UK, a campaign group which supports the president, said referring to Donald Trump as a fascist sets a "dangerous" precedent.

It comes after Sadiq Khan told the Observer ahead of the state visit that the president is "just one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat".

Mr Khan then went on to compare Mr Trump to Marine Le Pen in France and Nigel Farage, accusing them of "using the same divisive tropes of the fascists of the 20th century to garner support, but with new, sinister methods to deliver their message".

Mr Trump hit back at Mr Khan this morning, calling him a "loser" in a series of critical tweets.

But despite this, Mr Mcilhiney said "we have to show respect for his office".

Mr Mcilhiney said: "I don’t think it's fair to lay all the blame at Trump's door.

"We are entering into political and economical turmoil at the moment and we need trade deals, we need to start making friends, we can't start cutting off our nose to spite our face because we don’t like the fact he called our mayor a loser."

He's coming to Ireland next. Brilliant.

It's difficult for the UK to respect Trump when Trump doesn't respect the UK.

He has interfered with our internal politics in trying to influence who out next Prime Minister should be, he was discourteous to the Queen on his last visit, insulted the Duchess of Sussex and lied about parts of London being a no go area.

His values of racism and hate are a complete anathema to me which is why I will be joining the protests against his visit tomorrow.

I agree @Angela Channing. I mean who does he think he is? I'm not sticking up for anyone here but you don't land in a country and then proceed to tell the country that the people that run it are losers.

I honestly don't know how he gets away with it.

Iain Dale who featured in that clip is a right-wing commentator and former Conservative Party Parliamentary candidate. He went into a tirade against Jeremy Corby (UK Opposition leader) and Sadiq Kahn (Mayor of London) and supported Trump with it being pointed out that he is biased. He said the tens of thousand of people protesting against Trump were "far left" and all carrying "Socialist Worker Party placards". He is a liar". I was at the protest, I am not far left, I wasn't carrying an Socialist Worker Party placard. Most people seemed to be carrying Stand Up to Racism placards which is not a Trotskyist organisation. I chatted with other protesters and they were from a diverse background, quite a few from the USA, quite a few were wearing anti-Brexit or People's vote stickers, some were Green supporters, some were Lib Dems and some had no political affiliation.

Iain Dale shouldn’t have said that most of the people demonstrating in Trafalgar Square (where he’d seen them) had their Socialist Worker Party placards all handed to them if that wasn’t true. Because of the thousands protesting, I don’t think he could have seen them all. Who could, unless they were in a helicopter over-head. I wonder though, how many non-Socialist Worker Party demonstrators ended up, perhaps unwittingly, carrying SWP-written placards at this carnival, as the event was billed by some media.

That’s the danger at protest events such as this one: folk with different affiliations/disparate interests get together because they’re unified in protest – in this case dislike/hatred/contempt for Mr Trump for different reasons – but end up being affiliated by association with the group most ‘notorious’. (The adage that you’re known by the company you keep twisted.) Hence why the other chap in the clip said: “The problem is the people who are genuinely there for climate change reasons or perhaps they think he’s a bit vulgar or whatever it might be, will be, as Iain Dale says, wrapped in a far more aggressive hard-core extremist position which does not represent Britain, and it’s important for the CNN’s viewers from around the world to know that they don’t represent the British view…

But it wasn't "most", it was a small minority. The most common placards were from the Stand Up To Racism organisation. It's an indicator of how right wing Iain Dale is if her thinks standing up to racism is "far left" or "Trotskyist".

There is an effort from the right wing media in the UK to try to improve the public's perception of Trump even if it's resorting to lies. It's not going to work.

But Iain Dale doesn't bring up standing up to racism in the clip.... his thoughts can't be said to go there.

No he doesn't but he falsely calls those who were standing up to racism (i.e. most of the people at the demo) far left Trotskyists which is a disgraceful smear and appears to show just how much of a right zealot he really is.

Trump continues to share his wisdom this side of the pond. After reassuring us Irish folk that Brexit is gonna work out really well for us (even though it's already causing havoc and great expense and it hasn't even happened yet), he goes on to put his foot in it by referring to the border between north and south as our 'wall'. Our prime minister had to correct him by informing him that actually that's exactly what we're trying to avoid. Way to go Donald!

I am disappointed with how Trump's visit to the UK went. I thought that once both (Brexit and Trump) 2016 mistakes of the Anglo-Saxon world collided, Schrodinger's cat would die and we would wake up in a world where neither of these happened.

The Donald had to walk back his comment about the UK's NHS too.
