Trying to eat healthy

    Has anyone heard of or tried the Blood Type Diet?

    It suppose to be a diet of the right foods to eat and the foods to avoid based on your blood type. I was thinking of getting the book and trying it out to see if there are any benefits from it.

    I haven't heard of that, but I joined my local Slimming World at the end of April, and despite a couple of tricky weeks a few weeks ago, I have lost 21 pounds and feeling pretty good.

    I wasn't badly overweight but I just needed to keep a tight rein on things.

    I had a book about eating after your blood type approx. 25 years ago! Sorry, I can't think of the author or the title! Are there new books out about it now?

    With blood type 0+, I should eat almost no grains or dairy products. I never tried it wholeheartedly, but I will say that cutting back on bread (which I absolutely love), does wonders for my "system"! Maybe it's because I replaced some of the bread with even more fruits and vegestables and also more meat!

    Certainly during the last two weeks I have ate very little, if any bread, so possibly that has made a difference (3 pounds off last week, 2.5 pounds off this week).

    Here is how I eat healthy: 1. Daily eating: fruits such as apples, plums, and blueberries, vegetables like carrots, broccoli, and tomatoes, only whole wheat or grain bread, greek yogurt, small amounts of unsalted nuts, juice with vitamin C at breakfast and then water for rest of the day, salads, peanut butter sandwiches, cereal grain bars, popcorn (yes, it does have butter)

    2. What NOT to eat or limit: Fast food and restaurant food limited to only about once every two months with limits to certain items, glass of soda only once a month or once every two months as treat, chocolate only for holidays, limits on other forms of candy to only a couple times each month, coffee limited to twice a day except when working on a research paper or something, limited intake of meat that is cooked at high temperatures and almost no processed meat as they both contain cancer causing carcinogens, no doughnuts, cookies, cake, ice cream etc. except for very rare occasions, limit soup or buy low sodium soup, limit crackers to moderate level, no fish (mainly because I hate seafood, but also because fish in the ocean ingest a lot of used plastic, which then turns into chemicals, that in turn WE can eat) no alcohol whatsoever

    You may be wondering to yourself what point there is to even living with this diet, but it is actually good once you get used to it. And it IS doable. My doctor always says that she wishes that she had more patients like me!

    With top-notch and somewhat restricted eating habits, I have to wonder why you have to see at doctor at all ??? :giggle:

    You remind me a bit of Sally from the 1989-movie, "When Harry met Sally"! Remember when she ordered something at a restaurant and had a long list of changes ??? :lol:

    Wish I had some of your willpower though! :)

    Good for you, Sir.... I think it's marvellous that you've lost weight if that's what you've wanted to do. :):):)

    I shall need to follow in your wise footsteps soon, as I'm slowly touching on becoming a Fat Cow since I've given up the Ciggies.... :oops:

    To be honest, there's no way I could have done it without Slimming World. I have cut down drastically on sweet stuff and not grazing/nibbling at night - that was a major downfall.
