Just read an article on how Dallas had tons of memorabillia products like shampoo, after shave , ewing gold buckle etc, not to mention the JR burbon and I'm sure some action figures .

I was wondering if Knots Landing had any similar merchendise back in the day, besides the books and misc magazines.
I think I saw a clander from 1985 or so, but that's pretty much it .

Not talking about fan stuff like the "what Abby would do" tshirts out there, or internal cast things like the Karen / Val mugs or the name pillows etc, but legit things like the Dallas ones.

I don't recall anything officially licensed except the companion book that came out in 1986 or so, done by the same author who'd done a similar book on Dallas. A lot of that Dallas stuff you mention was likely done to counter the Dynasty merchandise. There was the Forever Krystle perfume that had Linda Evans and John Forsythe in the commercials, and clothing lines in mid-level department stores. There were also attempts to produce "real" Falcon Crest wines. I assume the FC wines and the perfume/clothing lines from Dynasty were licensed by their producers or network.

Of course Donna Mills did those make-up tutorial videos, but that was all "her" and not necessarily a Knots tie-in.

    Really?
I would have expected a "how to screw and screw your neighbours and get away with it"-tutorial.

I was starting to imagine a Karen / Pollyanna speech action figure.
Probably just wasn't a favorite among the kids ;)

I am pretty sure there was a 1985 or 1986 calendar out there. Remember someone sold his memorabilia on the (old) forum back in the day and that was one of the items. Think I saw it on eBay as well.

Falcon crest wines kinda make sense though didn't think the show was a big success here..?

I'm so laughing at the idea of a Krystal perfume. Did it come with shoulder pads ?

Oh and btw, I think circa 2000 Donna mills tried to revive that ''eyes have it" video AND do her own line of make up (either sold separately or come with it) . But that's of course her own thing not knots .
    Blue eye shadow anyone..?

    Appropriate merchandising opportunities would include...

    Limited-Edition Receipt Spindles
    "Lilimae Clements" autographed autoharps
    Ciji/Cathy's red "outer-space" dress (sizes 0-12)
    Karen's Rose-colored glasses
    Sid's non-stick frying pans

    The Knots Landing cookbook:
    Val's horrid chocolate mousse
    Lilimae's black-bottom pie
    Claudia's poisoned salad dressing
    Hermit Crabs Stir-fry

    The action figures:
Abby--the legs refuse to stay together
Mack--pull the string and it yells incoherently
Val--the skin keeps getting tighter and tighter
Chip--fill it with water and he leaks like a sieve
Laura--pull the string and get sarcastic insults
Diana--causes all the other dolls to evacuate the toy box
Jill--as you play with her, the hair keeps getting frizzier

    I'm sure there are more...

You have never seen The Eyes Have It, have you? It's Abby teaching you all her fancy tricks and magic and how to beguile men. It's basically what you said, but disguised as a makeup tutorial. I guess for legal reasons.

Kiss the cook apron. Also as an add-on for the action figure (comes with charcoal bbq and a sarcastic ex lover)

Laura's doll comes with add-on glasses and eye roll on pull

Instead of Barbie's Dream House, we'll have Phil Harbert's Hostage-House, complete with an over-decorated room for Karen and tiny cans of gasoline in the basement. Of course the Karen doll with the mop hairdo costs extra.

    Hilarious ideas everyone!

On a serious note, I don't know of any merchandise except for the books. But I can definitely recommend the Soap & Serials books to anyone who hasn't read them. I've got all 14 of them about 18 years ago and also the Saga of the Seaview Circle book. :)

The soft cover books really distorted the history of the show. I don't remembe the exact details, but mainly has to do with the character's past.

I don't remember that at all. But now I am curious. So if anyone can shed some light on that or give some examples that would be great. :)

I thought about it and actually I was mostly thinking about the hard cover Dallas book by Lee raintree. They botched the Gary / Val history

But I do remember the kl books had some inaccuracies as well.
Not to say that the show itself didn't contradict itself occasionally.
