She was the most important female member of the cast and I would say nearly on a par with JR who is the one person people will remember if you said Dallas.

She was the LINK and KEY to the storylines, Barnes V Ewing, past and present, Digger, Jock, Cliff and Bobby and Pam V JR/Jock within the Ewing familyetc
When she left it left a huge void that was never filled

And then there was the Katherine assassination. La Cidre thought she was dead... Morgan Brittany didn´t release any statement but she seemed clearly disappointed in the Dallas Divas Derby interview. You can kill one of those characters (TOS did kill them at least once!) but not both of them. I think la Cidre would have brought back even April (maybe she thought that her death was a dream!)...

....everything...up until they recast Miss Ellie, Bobby returned and nullified an entire season, Pam and Donna leaving, JR masquerading as JR and being outwitted by dimwits. :D

No complaints from here. I may have told the story a little differently but all things considered it was one of the few occasions CC managed to give a character some dignity. The only thing I would have changed was not killing of Katherine at the same time we were dealing with the death of JR and closure on Pam.

Exactly. Pam being dead is the only possible way that it could have been explained.

To be fair, I don't recall Victoria saying she was asked to do TNT Dallas. She said, "there were phone calls" about the show. Which could mean from friends telling her about it or simply people asking if she was in it.

There's a clip online of Linda asking Victoria for a hug at the 2004 reunion and Victoria saying something like "hi Beauty" to Linda that wasn't shown on tv so I assume there wasn't bad blood between them.

It's Patrick Duffy's behaviour during the time of the reboot that seems like there was bad blood or whatever. Even saying on a Brit show...Fiona or something...when asked about Victoria returning and giving Brenda the boot he said, " well, Brenda will always be my wife on the show". Odd for an actor to be so certain of that in soap land. Especially when Brenda had a thousand times more screen chemistry with Mitch than Patrick.

On 12th July 2013, Karin Schill and I had the opportunity to interview DALLAS cast members at a festival in the south of France. That was shortly after Victoria Principal‘s statement. And I remember Karin asking Patrick Duffy if there had been any real possibility of Victoria returning to the show. Patrick answered that he wasn’t aware of any offer having been made to Victoria, but there had been the potential for Pam’s character to return, until Victoria Principal chose to publicly declare that she wasn’t coming back. At another point in the interview, Patrick described the relationship between Bobby and Pam as “unsuccessful”, and his reason was that the character of Pam had been “pigstuck [?] nutty”. So maybe that would indicate that it was Patrick who wasn’t too keen on Pam returning to the show. Linda Gray’s reaction to Patrick’s negative description of Pam’s character was rather astounded and taken aback.

I understand the popularity of Dallas (still) around the world but may I ask, "What was the connection between the festival and having former Dallas stars in attendance?"

Rove, this festival is American West themed, not only for the music but also for the popular actors from TV shows like "Dallas" and "Walker Texas Ranger". I was there in 2007 and it was a little Disneyland for this American theme, with Texan cars showed among many other things. It´s a great experience for anyone who likes this Western feel. When I attended, I could meet the Fab Five (Larry, Linda, Steve, Patrick and Charlene) and even have dinner a few meters away from them (security measures were exaggeratedly high).

I´m sure there´s someone at Principal Secret Empire who doesn´t like the Boss (at least one...).

La Mirande isn't it...? In France. Every year they manage to invite prestigious guest stars. Dallas stars came twice. The first time with Larry H. himself and Charlene Tilton.
David Soul and Robert Conrad were invited too.

So you did have a little chat with Linda Gray.

Linda Gray. One of the few actors I would be delighted to meet. She won't ever know how much I owe her as an actor. I learned so much watching those guys...

YOU did met the mighty Linda Gray.

Would you really mind if I hated you?

Did they say BBG didn't win, or did I mis-hear it? Also, I think Larry was nominated for an Emmy circa 1980 or '81 (but didn't win, of course).

Anyway, when Patrick said he thought Sue Ellen would be talking to a lot of pictures of JR, he must have thought Katzman was still producing the show.

EDIT: Larry was indeed nominated for an Emmy:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/32nd_Primetime_Emmy_Awards

And the series was also nominated that year for Outstanding Drama Series.

It's as if even the cast forgets they were, for a while, almost critically respected!

Patrick seemed open enough to the idea of Victoria Principal returning. The relationship between Pam and Bobby has nothing to do with how the actors feel about working with each other.

DALLAS, Larry and BBG were nominated again in 1981, Jim Davis posthumously:

I ALSO met her, if for 30 brief seconds, at the signature stand of the Mirande festival. I must say she is A LOT more interesting, charming and talkative than her character...I instantly noticed that she used her own sense of humor to play the scenes of Sue Ellen at Valentine Lingerie...and her own gestures too. She is impressive in person, and also Charlene (who enjoyed that festival as much as moi) and Patrick. During the evening, Steve got close to another poster here and moi, and we talked for a minute or so...He said the latter years were boring for him... (I had to bite my tongue not to add that "imagine for us watching at home"...) It´s one of those experiences when you can see every minute is pure gold, no matter if you can talk to them or not. It´s almost something cosmic: the best of both worlds (to paraphrase a "Star Trek" episode...) clashing in a beautiful place in France. And no Susan Lucci at sight...
