I came home to a dinner my mother had prepared. Baby boiled potatoes, roast chicken, carrots and mange tout. Well she thought they were mange tout. They were actually green chillies and she boiled them with the carrots! So my first mouthful was like FIRE! I mean she boiled over 20 green chillies, and the carrots were boiled in the same water. To be fair she's suffering with a very bad cold so I couldn't really be mad at her. Luckily we had some tinned peas to have instead.

I'm going to have turkey, I think. With roast potatoes and vegetables. I'll share the recipe in case anyone else fancies it. In fact, I always have it around this time of year.

Okay, buy a turkey. Take some money with you or a bank card from an account with some money in it. I don't agree with shoplifting and, furthermore, you will have trouble sneaking it out of the gaff in your pocket. For ease, I would advise just a turkey crown. £8.99 from Lidl should feed about six people as long as they don't take the p*ss and want about four helpings each. If frozen, you will need to defrost it. It may take 48 hours in a normal fridge. (small tip here guys - if defrosting, don't leave it in the freezer as it will stay frozen).

When defrosted, wash your hands and place in a large roasting tin big enough for, say, a turkey crown. Cover with four strips of bacon to add succulence and flavour to the meat as it cooks. You may add a little butter to the outside of the turkey to add crispness. Then, score the skin and rub with a little salt and pepper and put into the oven. Turn the oven on until it is very hot. Have a look at the instructions to see how long to leave it in the oven for because I'm not really too sure. Then, while the turkey is cooking, open a bag of frozen roast potatoes and frozen veg. Whack the potatoes in the oven with the turkey (my advice would be Aunt Bessie's) and put the vegetables in some boiling water.

When the food is ready to serve, wash some plates and put the food on them. You can make some delicious gravy if you really know what you are doing. I normally go for Sainsbury's Instant Gravy Granules with hot water. Carve the turkey with a sharp knife and serve with a glass of Beaujolais Nouveau 1965. For dessert, I would suggest Christmas Pudding from Mark's & Spencer.

Let me know how you get on, guys. Merry Xmas.
