    Although one might argue that the character in the last couple of seasons was not really the true JR.

    That has to be the worst decision Leonard Katzman ever made. It almost made Dallas into a sit com, & a not very good one I might add.

    JR's character should've been beefed up, not diluted.

    Katzman maybe thought mellowing the character was the right way to go. Well it certainly wasn't! He lost his ability to manipulate people & that was a serious detriment to the show. JR was at his best when he was setting people against each other & manipulating them for his own ends. Katzman didn't do the character or the show itself any favours. :(
