A well-respected member on this site brought up a good point:
"Isn't it funny how we sometimes remember what seem like the most inconsequential things and sometimes forget things that matter to us considerably more?"

Is there a scene in Dallas that you remember, even though it was an inconsequential part of the episode or the series?

    I'll start us off:
The scene where Jock pulls up to the barn in his Lincoln. Nothing special about that scene, but when I think of Dallas, that is the first thing that pops into my head.

This is going to be fun! :)

It's hard to know where to start so I'll try this: Punk Anderson was never part of the main cast but I liked him. He seemed to be Jock's best friend. Despite that he wasn't one of the truly crucial characters in the story although he was important. I remember little things about him that maybe most wouldn't. I remember how he liked to wear flashy clothes, boots, and string ties with big jewels and/or heavy gold. There was an Oil Baron's Ball and he was talking about his wardrobe and how he was going "all out" this year. He said "You know what they say. You've to look the part"! I like that saying. He went on to say what he'd bought to wear and said something about getting a new pair of lizard skin boots. At the ball he said to Ellie that she looked like a million bucks. Jock replied: A million bucks? That ain't no compliment"! Ha ha ha!

After Ray had lost big money on a real estate deal, Punk stopped by to console Ray and lift his spirits. He said something to Ray like "You think I haven't made some big mistakes too? We all do! That's how we learn."

At a meeting as to what to do about JR's cut rate gas stations, Cliff said to Punk that Punk was over-reacting. Punk replied: "Over-reacting? You'll know I'm over-reacting when you wake up face down on the floor"! Punk was great!

For a special reason, I remember a lot of scenes of OR Season 2 because I taped some episodes and listened to them in the pre-video era. I crack´d up just hearing Lucy´s lines and imagine her in her usual Barbie style...

    upload_2019-3-6_14-21-13.jpeg

Lucy to Kristin #1: "You hit the road beech.
You ain´t even the real Kristin..."

I also remember many of Ray and Donna´s dialogues of that season because their episodes were few but were building the relationship they had later on. Donna used to have some of the best lines in her first seasons, and I just loved the way she said to Ray: "I love you".

    upload_2019-3-6_14-16-14.jpeg

"I love you more than you love yourself!"
    :love2:
Also, Kristin´s dialogues were pure gold, as well as Katherine´s with J.R. I enjoyed the former´s clashes with Alan Beam and Lucy, and Katherine´s on/off flirting with J.R. when she wasn´t sure that Bobby and Pam could make apart. Oh and Serena´s lines were almost a recurring subplot all through the series..."Life and Times of a Dallas Hooker", it might be titled, as one of those awful 80´s TVM´s.

Jenna: Emotions aren’t like faucets, Donna. You can’t turn them on and off
    (thanks to @James from London's versus/versus/versus thread)

Just to clarify: she wasn't talking about Farrah.

This is one of the times that the show dates itself. Farrah Fawcett had married Lee Majors and was going by Farrah Fawcett Majors when J.R. made that remark.

Yeah OK but no-one actually called her Farrah Majors.

edit: oh wait, you mean in the context of the "Guzzler" comment.

Whenever I think of Lucy's character, I don't picture her major storylines (the abortion, Mickey Trotter's death etc..) but I envision her in the miniseries episodes. Like the breakfast scene when J.R. and Sue Ellen remark she should wear different clothes to school.

I liked the quick scene with Jock after Mitch throws his tantrum about not wanting to work at Ewing Oil and storms off Southfork. Jock says, mostly to himself, “Straaaaange boy!”, then looks at his coffee cup and says, “I sure as hell need something stronger than this.” And then he goes off to find some liquor.

Not really inconsequential but I love this little scene. Firstly, the focus on the adorable baby yawn and then Larry's excellent acting without saying a word.

Also, there's a scene much later in the show where Sue Ellen is leaving a meeting of some sort (maybe to do with her movie?) and she's wearing this pink outfit that periodically appears in my head because I like pink and because we rarely saw Sue Ellen in pink so I guess it stuck with me.

Found a clip. Now that I'm looking at it again I think this has to do with Valentine Lingerie? I'm not really sure though.

That was a great scene! Your post reminds me of another somewhat similar situation in Dallas. It was the first time Digger Barnes (the original version of Digger) was being invited to Southfork. He'd been sober for a little while but ended up drinking at the barbecue. The thing I remember which I don't know how memorable others would consider it is when Jock was questioned (maybe by Pam) if he had to treat Digger the way he did. Jock had a response to that which I loved: "He asks for the same thing every time - to be stripped down raw. I generally try to accommodate my guests"! I think people will remember it but maybe not remember those lines word for word.

The Barneses are getting ready for the miniseries Ewing barbecue and Cousin Jimmy (remember him?) has a favorite shirt he'd like to wear. Even Cliff enthusiastically exclaims that it's a terrific shirt.

Pam, however, has other plans and makes Jimmy wear a different shirt (which apparently wasn't terrific). You see, she wants Jimmy to come across as a 'hayseed' to impress Lucy, who'd undoubtedly be able to see through the scheme if his shirt was too terrific. ("Oh, c'mon Pam, how much hay is there on the streets of Dallas?", Cliff asks.)

I guess Pam's trying to get Lucy to date someone more age-appropriate than Ray while also getting her cousin some action? Weird!

    terrific!

not terrific! ("Oh Pam.. you're not serious!?")

I think it was one of the mini series episodes where Lucy was cutting class, even accused a teacher of making a pass at her (or sleeping with her, etc).. and Pam instantly knew Lucy was lying.. and there was a fun little cat and mouse game between Lucy/Pam. I wished the Pam of the mini series and first full season remained instead of being morphed into a goody goody.

yeah, I thought Lucy and Pam were more interesting as the little vixen who wasn't afraid to point out the family hypocrisy, and the street-smart but classy girl from the other side of the tracks, respectively.

I seem to remember that, in some country, it was dubbed as "he´ll say he´s dating Raquel Welch". Can´t remember where though (Spain? No, they would have gone for a much more "imaginative" translation...).
