Not yet. I’ve been saving it for when I rewatch New DALLAS and New DYNASTY. But now you’re tempting me, I might watch it sooner ...

Can't wait to read all about that.

But Don Johnson proves to be a very interesting oil man, and the character names Hap, Wick, Tip and Jules remind me of Flamingo Road.
    Only 10 episodes, unfortunately!

    Episodes 3 & 4

How fascinating! I thought I was watching a New Dallas spin-off, but it's more like Old Dynasty season 1, minus the emerald-studded zoo. Although….

The ending of Blood & Oil is not what I had expected. The second half is not as strong and gritty as the first half, but overall it's a very entertaining series.

The Deuce and Succession was going to be my next watch, but I'm watching The Shield instead. How very anarchic of me.

I did the first episode of this tonight. I'd put it in the same category as Gossip Girl and The OC. The characters and their secrets are sufficiently intriguing enough to make me want to keep going.

I also think I'm going to give this one a go when it comes out next week:

Netflix & others lack heart, suggests the BBC’s head of television Charlotte Moore in a lecture.

BBC chief accuses Netflix of failing to take risks because its decisions are made by robots
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/10/11/bbc-chief-accuses-netflix-failing-take-risks-decisions-made/

I had a good chuckle at the comments on The Telegraph.

More on topic… last watched episode 21 of The Rise of Phoenixes, a Chinese historical drama of palace intrigues that follow the release from imprisonment (within a temple) of the 6th prince of the current emperor (Tiansheng Kingdom). So far it appears that everything stems from the night there was a showdown with “the last remnant” of the previous emperor, but no one knows exactly what happened so there are secrets from that time.

Began watching a week ago. Had a slow start, needing to go over a couple of episodes to match names to titles – because the royal family personal names begin with “Ning” for all – and to match names with faces. More incomprehensible to me is how women disguised as men can get away with it for long. Apparently, men in the countryside can tell (because families there allow women to dress in men’s clothing to do business) but not in the capital.

Who’s in it? Every man and his dog: A tailor, ‘his’ classy brothel from which royal concubines seem to come, various other esteemed places of learning, an emperor, 5 other princes or more, their households and followers/supporters; the uncles: a black duke; a white duke and a stern duke or two (and how to know whose intentions are really what), a masked sorcerer, a bloody pagoda, a wily fox, a smart and nippy raccoon, a very discriminating talking parrot, all manner of eunuchs, spies and guards – royal guards, swordsmen guards, bodyguards, and more.

Draggy here and there, but binge-worthy. English subtitles available. Said to be a 70-episode series. Netflix has 45 (and counting, I hope).

Drop everything and watch it. Now!

I didn't think I would like it (based on the title) and in those first 10 minutes it does seem like an updated "Desperate Housewives" about too pretty, wisecrack people, but a playground drama changes the tone of the series.
Reese Witherspoon is typecast as the "bulldozer" mother but it's impossible to dislike her (I don't think it's humanly possible to dislike Reese Witherspoon, unless you have an evil black heart of stone).
Nicole Kidman (!!) is in it too, showing her boobs every now and then (for real) and the hunky vampire from True Blood plays her young husband.

Laura Dern is great as super-bitch Renata.
It is very soapy and there's a murder mystery but it doesn't feel like the most relevant topic.

    Next year, according to IMDB.

A few shows I tried but didn't like:

Banshee season 3. That what really worked in the first two seasons becomes painfully tiresome in its third season and I just couldn't be bothered anymore.
Sharp Objects. I didn't get the characters, too much focus on atmosphere - and the OTT shaky cam was unbearable.
West World. Hard to say how good or bad it is after watching only one episode, but it just isn't my thing.

They're done filming. A couple of articles I've read have predicted it will be out Spring 2019.

Big Little Lies was all around a very entertaining series, I didn't want it to stop. Some nice surprises at the end, and the Elvis show was great too!
I wonder what season 2 will bring. Madeline vs. Tori?

Today I've watched a documentary about the Dutch dance scene, it wasn't a trip down memory lane since it focussed on the events from last 10 years.
But it was interesting to see what's been going on: the DJs who became rockstars, the festival organization (ID&T and Q-Dance) that became a mega-corp, and was sold to a rich American (SFX Entertainment).
With the enormous success of commercial trance and hardstyle, there was room for an underground sound, but that has evolved in the equally successful EDM genre (I never knew what it was, so I have learned something today).

I binged Good Behavior during Thanksgiving break. It was amazing--wonderful, interesting, characters; beautiful settings and fantastic acting. I'm extremely disappointed it wasn't renewed for a third season. It's definitely worth a watch in spite of the cancellation. It's on Hulu.

Now I've gone back to Elite on Netflix. I had watched the first episode a few months ago and then got distracted. Now I'm five episodes in and hooked. It's a fun, trashy teen soap.

I finished Elite this weekend. I loved it. I'm a sucker for a good teen soap and this one ticked all the right boxes for me--family drama, gay love story, well written and soapy murder mystery with lots of suspects, a couple of complex bad boys, a couple of star crossed romances, a couple of fabulous bitches, interesting supporting characters.

    I need a season 2.
