I watched The Graduate for the first time this week and I agree, it's a great film on so many levels. I didn't expect there to be some real laugh out loud moments as well as the great drama.

If you ever get the chance you should watch The Return of Martin Guerre, it's a very good film. I've not heard of Libel before but you're piqued my interest so I'm going to try and get a copy to watch.

Today, I watched It's My Turn (1980). I've wanted to see this film for decades now because I love the theme song sung by Diana Ross and I've always been curious to see what it was about. It was absolute total rubbish, such a disappointment.

    Easter Parade (1948)
    Jesus Christ Superstar (1973)

Two films that could both be described as Easter musicals but very different from each other.

In the documentary on the JCS DVD lyricist Tim Rice says that he would have preferred that the filmmakers had adopted a more realistic approach and I have to say I agree. As it stands, taken literally the film is about a troupe of actors who take a bus to the desert where they put on a production of Jesus Christ Superstar for no one. The weirdest part is at the end when they get back on the bus and Ted Neeley (Jesus) is nowhere to be seen, suggesting that maybe they took the performance a little too far.

That said, if you can get past the framing device it is a solid and moving portrayal of the story.

What a stupid movie, and not one exciting moment. I'm glad I didn't finish it, apparently the conclusion is even more stupid. 1/10

Oh it's a bit rambly. It might not make that much sense.

But it's fun to ramble about stupid movies. I'm almost tempted to watch that shockingly stupid ending, but I already know how it ends.
The interpretations of the clues (well at least it made sense why there were clues in the first place) were so extremely far-fetched and nonsensical, I mean, I don't have to know and believe everything but in the story itself it should look like something clever, but not sooo clever that I-the-viewer is being completely excluded.
It's like one of those Star Trek episodes when the ship is in danger because of some previously-never-heard-of-before-entity, and then the only way to battle it is to *activate* some previously-never-heard-of-before-and-never-be-mentioned-after-that device, usually a device with a very flashy but nonsensical name.
It's exactly why I can't enjoy science fiction movies, or supernatural shows like Hemlock Grove, that wants to do drama when everything else is already so extreme.
If I'd see a person turning into a vampire or animal then that would be the end of the world and make any kind of human drama completely irrelevant.

Stupid movies, stupid tv shows - where would we be without them?

    The Legacy

I didn't know that Francesca Colby has been romantically involved with Chance McKenzie from the Yellow Rose.
    upload_2018-4-18_4-15-47.png

I also didn't know that Francesca has inherited Satan's super-power.

How I'd love to play in that wonderful mansion, doors and stairs everywhere!
    upload_2018-4-18_4-21-36.png

Btw, Satan's name is Jason too, and Frankie is his victim. So it all makes sense.
Sam Elliott looks extremely hot in this movie, in fact, he even set the water on fire.
