No need to be mad, it's perfectly understandable. A few days ago I listened to the amazingly beautiful "Leningrad" song, and out of curiosity I checked wiki to see how many weeks it peaked at #1. I was stunned to find out that it reached #15 in Holland and #53 in the UK. It didn't chart in the US at all (!!). He is a best-selling artist, but I don't think he'd end up on people's lists of most famous artists. That list is reserved for artists like Madonna, Michael Jackson, Elton John and David Bowie - artists with a more outspoken or recognizable personality. Billy Joel is just...Billy Joel. I discovered him when we did the Billy Joel music top ten, that is to say, I already knew most of these songs (his biggest hits anyway) but now I could connect them with an artist.
