Wow! I've never heard of Janie Fricke but a little online research tells me I like her already. Eight consecutive albums is very exciting. BGO do some nice work, so that's another attraction. Something for me to consider in the future.

    Enjoy listening to Janie, Payton.

Oh - yes please! I love seeing other people's collections.

BGO records does indeed soms nice work, their sound quality is really amazing.

Thanks @Mel O'Drama, i already have heard most of the songs, i do like her singing voice too. :)

I'm liking the sound of her more and more. Janie is most definitely on my radar now. I'm not sure when but I'll certainly be getting some of her albums when all the stars are in alignment.

Absolutely. Most of their Shirley Bassey albums sound great and they also look good on the shelf, what with their swanky slipcovers and all.

I'm looking forward to reading it!!

It'll be a good excuse to use my camera again - but I need to charge it up first.
Maybe we should also take pictures of our beloved DVD collections, you know, just in case someone starts a thread about it.

***oddly enough this was hard to find on CD. Even big charthits from yesteryear can fade into obscurity, apparently.
Most of those Best Of Whatever Decade compilations are a bit run-of-the-mill in my humble opinion. Yes, even those big 20 CD boxsets. It's often the same stuff over and over again.
The best ones are those bargain bin CDs from the late 80s and early 90s, the ones I used to scoff at, like "who buys that rubbish anyway?".
But it's often those compilations that have the "forgotten songs", because at that time they weren't so forgotten yet.

I even have to re-order my CDs before I take pictures because all CDs are now mixed up, not really clear for myself and others.

That's also a great idea @Willie Oleson, i look forward to that too. ;)

This is the fourth version of JCS that I have bought - five if you include the remaster of the original album.

Not only do I love the show but I'm intrigued by the tweaks that have been made to it over the years, especially the tinkering that Tim Rice has done to the lyrics.

In his autobiography he admits to always searching for the perfect rhyme. As a perfectionist myself I understand the impulse but I'm not convinced that a better rhyme necessarily makes for a better lyric.

Case in point: "You'd see the truth but you'd live the lie" may be a better rhyme for "die", but somehow it seems to lack the emotional resonance of the original "... but you'd close your eyes".

Why have Steps not recorded a banging version of this? The girls would slay the life out of this and it has that "could it be an ABBA song?" vibe about it which is what Steps do best.
