The Special Ones by Missy Higgins
I already have all of Missy's albums but it's always nice to have "the special ones" in one place. Plus this has some rarities and unreleased songs.
All the publicity surrounding the new film made me want to hear these songs again.
Now Forgotten 80s - 100 Hits.
a few weeks ago the ones i can remember that i bought on cd that is, are Jim Croce lost recordings, Gwen Stefani : love angel music Baby her 1st solo album from (2004) ,
and of course The Top Gun Soundtrack
The Best Movie Hits Album In The World...Ever.
The #1 80s Love Album.
Now 100 Hits Classic Rock.
Ultimates 80s - The Classics.
They are! Lots of obscurities, but not every song is a winner of course.
But that makes the winners seem even more winner-y.
And you never know when one of those non-winners is going to win you a Top Ten round.
Speaking of winning things, may I say I'm enjoying your Kevin Palmer avvy.
How did you discover her music @Willie Oleson?, I have never heard from her but she has a lovely voice, i just listen to a couple of songs from her on youtube.
Some great purchases @Mel O'Drama, i love Elaine Paige voice, i listen a lot to her duet album on Spotify, i also have a few IL Divo cd's, but i dont know if i already have this one.
Oh, that was a long time ago when we did one of those themed top 10s, probably songs with the word "heart" in the title.
When I heard this song for the first time I thought she was a man (although gay country songs are rare, I guess).
Okay thats a nice way to discovering some new artists, i also thought she was a man but she sounds great with her deep low voice, and yes country gay songs are very rare.
Elaine's really grown on me in the last decade. She's done some really nice songs - her Eighties version of MacArthur Park is a favourite of mine, even though it gets a bit bonkers towards the end.
It's interesting on the Essential Musicals album to hear her cover You Must Love Me. Elaine is so closely associated with Evita, but of course the song was written for the film version, many years after Elaine first played Eva. It seems only right that she should get to make it her own here.
Funnily enough, I had to check my iPhone before buying the CD to make sure I didn't have it already. I have a few of their albums but I have a job telling one from another.
I also have a Coeur De Pirate CD.
