I really love this collection @Mel O’Drama, there are soms really great tracks on this cd some of them i never heard before, and there are also some unreleased songs on this album, i really love her 60's and early 70's songs.

I listen to this cd all day long, I think this is one of Donna Summer's best cd collection there is. ;)

Yes - it's quite different to the many previous Donna compilations. It's really pleasing that some effort was put into giving some hard-to-find and previously unavailable tracks, which made this worth the money.

Yes indeed @Mel O’Drama, they've been doing their best to work on this CD, especially the hard-to-find songs and the songs that have never been released, making this collecting really a must have for every Donna Summer fan.

Except for a few songs, I'm also glad that they have used the standard single editions for the most songs. I already have two collections with all extra extended versions. So that's why it's really a great cd. ;)

I know what you mean. Some tracks have so many different versions and lengths that it makes getting them all quite tricky.

With The Ultimate Collection DCE I'm really happy to finally have the 7" versions of Winter Melody and Sunset People. The album versions are pretty perfect but it's good to have every available version for completion.

Driven By The Music have been really good for releasing some rare Donna material in their various box sets and now this one. I wonder what they have planned next? I can't imagine there's much material still unreleased now, but you never know. Especially now they seem to have access to her Casablanca material from the Seventies.

"Ultimate" and "definitive" are used so randomly, I find.

This CD from 1987 (!) is still my favourite:

Yes it's nice to have some diffrent versions from each songs.

Wow, I did not know that Driven By The Music now has also access of Donna Summers Casablanca years, and now I even got more hope that there will be a CD box set with all of Donna's 70's albums including her 1978 live album, like the amazing "Donna "CD box released a few years ago by Driven By The Music in 2014. :):spinning:

I'm so glad I didn't bought her Japan mini Lp's on cd, I think I will wait for a while.:D

    I completely agree, Willie.

Years ago I started a thread about overused marketing words in the Rant Room. Both of those were on it, along with a plethora of other equally annoying (and usually inaccurate) phrases like "Trilogy", "Quadrilogy" that make me go :a2:

It's a cracker. And about the only place where the 12" version of With Your Love can be found. It's a bit bizarre that disc 2 of the Bad Girls Deluxe Edition had such a similar tracklist to The Dance Collection.

I'm not 100% on that, but I'd assumed they had because The Ultimate Collection included songs from that era, which their previous sets hadn't.

I have the Japanese SHM-CDs, but I'd still buy a box set in a heartbeat. Those 80s and 90s albums from Driven By The Music were so beautifully packaged it would be worth it for the shelf appeal alone.

Yes that's true, well maybe it's a good sign for us. ;)

I almost bought those SHM cd's but i find out that a few cd's were not available anymore, so that's why i did not buy them.
But a complete boxset would worth buying anytime, and it will looks good to my other Donna Summer boxset. WEll jsut wait and see what DFTM has instore for us in the near future.:)

It's nice, but I think these reissues/expanded editions are more interesting when the extra tracks (mixes, B-sides, previously unreleased etc) are relevant to the album.
That's the best way to get the complete (ultimate-platinum-definitive-deluxe-collector's-) edition.

Personally speaking, I'm not a fan of those huge boxsets because:
-I find those massive tracklists difficult to digest (panic!)
-I rather not mix my seventies with eighties or nineties music (I hate it when they do that with various artists compilations)

Well that depends on how you ordered your music collection @Willie Oleson. I order my collection by artist name which had the most influence on my taste in music. ;)

    1. chronologically*
    2. style
    3. tempo (if applicable)

*I have put one cd-single from 1997 in the 1998-part because it suits that style better, but since there's no release date printed on it I can pretend that "I really didn't know".

Today, I have just received my two eBay purchases, all two albums are still in a very good condition, almost like new. ;)

    Olivia Newton-John - Love Performance Vinyl (1981)

This first live album was original only released in Japan in 1981, but it was from her live concert in Japan in 1976. And I also never really understood myself, why I never bought this album before, I really missed something but am glad I can add this album to my Olivia Newton-John collection now. :spinning:

Celine Dion - Les chemins de ma maison Vinyl (1983)

I am so happy now that I also have Celine's fourth album in my collection, and Friday or Saterday, three new Celine Dion LPs will be delivered. :spinning:

Actually I only wanted to have "Turnstiles" and "Streetlife Serenade", but it would have been much more expensive to buy them seperately.
Unfortunately, it's a set of cardboard sleeves, instead of jewel cases.:(
I think I'll put the discs in jewel cases anyway.

    01. D'eux (vinyl lp)
    02. S'il Suffisait D'aimer (vinyl 2-lp's)
    03. 1 File & 4 types (vinyl lp)

And all 3 albums got a code, so that i can download all 3 albums also on mp-3, that's really makes me happy. :spinning:

I love the Original Album Classics series and have a number of them. They're a great way of exploring an artist past the greatest hits and - as you said - can save a lot of money on buying the albums individually.

I quite like the sleeves they come in - especially considering I've paid a fortune before now for "Mini LPs" which are much the same thing. ;)

Wow. They look great and I'm sure being vinyl they sound even better. I'd like to explore Céline's French language material at some point down the line and when the time comes will probably pester you and @Alexis for advice on where to begin with them.

    Enjoy the albums PC. :)
