That hairdo is perfection.
At every opportunity, Sable sneaked up behind Alexis and cut her hair. And sometimes Monica did it, while Sable was distracting our beloved Dynasty heroine.
Unfortunately those scenes ended up on the cutting room floor although I'm tempted to view that as poetic justice.
This no wig look in season 4 I love. She looks so fresh and young..
...and then in the next scene she is back in the short wig and heavy make up and has aged about 20 years. Why didn't they use her natural hair more often?
I never understood the rules... Did Alexis wear wigs as well as Joan? It's so hard to understand...
I imagine it was down partially to Joan's request - her hair looks quite thin and fragile and those 80s hairdo's were extreme. Even poor Pamela Sue had to wear a hairpiece after a while.
Im not sure, but the few scenes from the early seasons where she has her natural hair I think she looks lovely.
I know her hair was quite thin so probably limited what they could do with it. Maybe the wigs were part of the glamour of old hollywood look they were going for.
Yeah it was the age of big hair and perms , even poor Claudia had one
Only in the last episodes of season 2, when she had that fake bun. She did not like it so she dropped it after a few weeks.
Yea, I get that, and that Joan didn't want her own hair damaged by excessive styling. But do you think that in the world of Dynasty that it was an accepted truth that Alexis Colby wore wigs? In NuDynasty we know that NuAlexis is an outed wig wearer. Blake has remarked on it, maybe they were to polite to do that in the '80s.
I think Pamela Sue wore a hair piece in more than 2 episodes, and it wasn't a bun. It was a fuller curlier fall or 3/4 wig. Similar to what Joan wore sometimes in season 2 but in a different style. It allows you to show your real hairline and thus looks less wiggy. It adds volume and fullness.
Linda also wore a piece for almost her entire time on the show after season 1, but it is much less noticeable. Emma Samms has mentioned that she wore a piece sometimes, and I have noticed that Catherine Oxenberg's hair length and thickness has alternated between episodes suggesting that she also wore a hair piece at times.
This was as likely for time saving as it was for saving the actress' real hair. At 5am nobody wants to spend an hour and a half having their hair styled and worked on. If the bulk of the style is all set and ready to go all they had to do was minimal work, while having makeup done.
It was for a short time. Not 2 episodes but 6. And yes, it was longer that a bun but I don't know how to call it. The back was all fake hair while the front was her real hair. I think it was nice (even though not completely natural) but PSM said she looked like a "ranch girl".
I think we were supposed to beleive it was her hair, she commented to Steven about the new short wig at the start of season 4 something about her stylist doing best he could with it after the cabin fire. I dont remember if it was ever referred to again
But she did not wear a wig in this scene. Actually, there are several scenes in season 4 when she did not wear a wig and you can see how her real hair is thin. She did not wear a wig either in the TV movie she made with John-Erik Hexum prior to shoot the 4th season.
Yes that first scene with the short hair is her own hair. You can tell as it's much thinner and less puffy. The wigs never bothered me to be honest.
Me either. Even on men! Unless it's awfully wrong (Larry Hagman got some terrible toupees at some point in "Dallas").
I rewatched recently the dream season, JR's toupee looked like plastic hair !
Larry Hagman should have contacted the Colbys' older men who had better hairpieces.
It likely was.
It got better in later seasons. Or maybe it's the bad video quality that helps in this case.
HD shows a lot of new details. For instance, PSM had a permanent spot on the nose in "Dynasty" but I couldn't see it low resolution.
Neal McVane knew Alexis wore wigs. Alexis wore a short wig to the Roaring 20s party and Neal commented on remembering Alexis with long hair. A year later he framed Alexis for Mark's murder by wearing the cape that matched the dress she was wearing that night (it was cold so she wore a fur instead) and a wig. Where did he get the wig? It would have raised suspicion if he went to a wig shop to purchase a ladies' wig. I think he wore one of Alexis' wigs.
