A big part of Alexis' actions against Blake was based on deep feelings of hurt, of what he did years before. At one time, when Blake and Alexis argue about the identity of Amanda's father, she says: Because you could never forgive me, because that incredible male ego of yours wouldn't forgive me. She says this in a very personal and emotional way. It hits the core of who Alexis had become. She was angry at Blake because he stopped loving her completely and took no considerations of the fact that she still loved him. Krystle became an natural outlet for Alexis' rage to this fact. Even when Krystle wasn't in the picture, Blake still didn't want her to come back. In many ways Blake created Alexis, as the enemy he was forced to deal with later. But at the same time Alexis was too much of a narcissist to stay married to Blake. Blake possessed a more honest and fair approach to people even if he at times could be a real scum. All and all, Blake and Alexis, as the years went by, triggered something in each other, something unhealthy and to hateful for a marriage. Krystle was totally unpretentious and lacked a scheming mind and a demanding personality, and in the end Blake needed this to somewhat keep his feet on the ground. Alexis with Blake were right in a certain time of their lives but Krystle was the "overall woman" for him.
