There's a lot of evil in the world at the moment but the callousness of this sick, twisted woman is still unbelievable. No wonder she is too cowardly to face a jury of her peers.

All so she could get attention and sympathy on social media as the grieving partner.

She is obviously either evil or mentally ill. And I don't believe the two go hand in hand!

    Gee. She looks lovely.

Although they're not mutually exclusive, either.

She is apparently a sociopath, and evil. But what kind of victimy, S&M mindest did he have to have such a relationship and then allow her to encorauge this?

I wonder about the legal details on this one.

If she did this for attention I think you have to wonder about her own upbringing and life. I'm not defending her at all, and I agree it's sick and evil but why did she do it? Really, and like Snarky says, why would he let her?

I have recently seen my 18 year old nephew be horridly treated by his girlfriend while he was doing his A-Levels. I mean, she has been tortuous to him and he's just taking it. I think in early relationships people can be so blinded that they just believe everything they are told by this person who seems to pay them so much attention. Some very clever, and sick people immediately take advantage of that.

Sociopaths tend to do quite well in prison. Very adaptable. Which is nice.

And some faces say "bottomless selfishness" more eloquently than any series of words possibly can.

And she's been sent home during her appeal over her conviction, and she'll likely never serve a day.

Does anyone think that, were genders switched but the circumstances were otherwise the same, such a light non-sentence would have been handed down?

They keep referring to "both" of these kids having mental illness, several media outlets doing all they can to assure us that they're both victims. No, he suffered from clinical depression -- she's a sociopath.

Were the genders reversed, there would be little effort made to reiterate repeatedly that the culprit was "mentally ill, too".

Also, I was watching a TV report on the case last night, and they were discussing the fact that her earlier emails and tweets had been more sympathetic, but asserting that she eventually became fatigued by her role as caretaker (she's a woman, remember) and then her responses eventually took on the more "just-go-ahead-and-do-it!" tone, but most of the previous, supposedly well-meaning messages sounded to me to be of the goading "Oh, you'll never really do it" variety.

Also, a lot of legal scholars are chiming in to say that the conviction sets a bad precedent, not that she'll get off easy (likely no jail time, despite an already light 15 months sentence) but that she was convicted at all... Once again, if the genders were switched, that argument, if made at all, would be far more muted than it is -- no one would question that a nasty boyfriend who taunted his girlfriend into killing herself deserved to be under the jail.

But she's a girl. So she must be decent deep down. Only troubled, the poor dear.

As silly Nancy Grace says, the narcissistic idiot girl is just evil.

... and still slingin' snot for her audience.

Sadly, no. I don't believe for a minute that it would. Gynocentrism is alive and well.

Yes. And the vulnerability that his depression created must have been like blood in the water for her.

I also read it that way.

Reminds me of an event many, many years ago while visiting my aunt. She is the kindest lady I know and every-time I visit she has homemade lemon cake (yum) and a cuppa ready for me. On one such visit she appeared to be quite down and I asked what was wrong. Her son had split up with his girlfriend for the umpteenth time, came home and blurted out to his mother what a deceitful so and so (insert colourful language) girlfriend he had. They breakup, makeup, breakup, makeup. You get the point. Well the son comes home and I innocently ask how he and his girlfriend are. It was my way of enticing my aunt's son to rant, which he did. I eventually asked him, "So what are you getting out of this?" He sat there stunned and didn't appear to comprehend my question. I said, "Well you and ______ are on again, off again so you must be getting something out of this relationship otherwise you would man up and end it for good rather than heaping your crap relationship on your mother." The young bloke felt so embarrassed he got up and left. His dad turned and said to me, "Thank you." No matter how many times the parents told the son to end the relationship they gave up in the end because the next day they would be back on again.

The relationship ended permanently not long after this.
