Six seasons of episodes--and only four months of time have passed in the lives of the characters. They take the concept of "monthdays" to the extreme. In fact, they take everything to the extreme. But it's a real kick watching these characters live in a pressure cooker. I would not recommend any show copying the way Haves is done, but it is quite the addictive little secret. But then, so is crystal meth. Trying to get back to topic here...Heather Locklear was in a featured role on another of Tyler Perry's attempts at scandalous nighttime soap called Close to Home. It was absolute dreck, and not even Aaron Spelling's good luck charm could save that disaster.
I wonder why the writers have taken Alexis in such a different direction this time? She is not the same character. Is it to keep Fallon central?
If we were to give the writers the benefit of intelligent thought (a big if), it could be that Alexis defined the original so much, if you want to do a reboot and give your own version she can't be the alpha and the omega of the series again.
I think the best actresses to play this modern day Alexis should have been either; Christina Hendricks or January Jones, both are Mad Men alumni, both can play those WASP type ladies who lunch and bitch but have the class and breeding to do so. We were told that this version of the Carringtons were very much the, White, Anglo Saxon, Protestant type, however this breed of Carrington seems more new money than the 80s Carrington’s who were new money. Nicolette Sheridan is a good actress but now I see she’s the wrong actress to play her, when I watch Nu Dynasty I see soap that really should have aired in the 00s, I’m not sure if that was the aim, after all going by old Dynasty TPTB then seemed obsessed with the period between the mid 1950s to the mid/late 60s, so maybe TPTB seem to have the same nostalgia for the 2000s? Regardless, this Alexis should have been of higher class and have an actress who can play that believably.
All they have to do is fix her hair, because that long hair looks too "redneck". This is awesome: This shouldn't be a themed party outfit, it should be the standard outfit. Then we're talking Dynasty.
I voted no. Then again I think no matter who they gave the part to wouldn't be able to match Joan Collins performance. She was Alexis.
Agreed! No matter how OTT Joan Collins was, she was the one and only and forever: Alexis Morrell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan
Far be it from me to dismiss how much Collins offered to the role of Alexis (plus I am afraid of what @Alexis would do in that case). But it was beautifully set up as well throughout the first season: the unseen first wife whose past presence was only whispered about and who was a complete mystery upon arrival with that hat. I don't think peach Dynasty did such a great job setting up Alexis, no matter what their version of it was. Even her part in revealing the Colbys' true lineage, which was quite the bombshell, was presented in the most underwhelming way. So, I can't really decide if Sheridan defined the role to be this screwball "redneck man's" Alexis, or if she simply adheres to what they give her. It's also bizarre that they gave her a rich family past upon arrival, and then did everything they could to erase that image from our heads.
It kills me that her fake costume party wig is better than her everyday Alexis wig. Like it actually makes me sad.
