Me too. They should have been married again.
Then as for it being more of a friendship. I didn't really read it that way. Like for instance remember the scene when he gave her Miss Ellie's pearls. I think in a sense that gesture reminded me of when he used to court her when they were divorced and he got her gifts. Only this gift had more sentimental value.
Also in the scene where they danced at the BBQ that we never got to see, notice in the photo how she is wearing the pearls!
Moreover I read online when that was filmed what the dialogue in the scene was supposed to be and it was reported in the press (I don't remember which article or the source) that they were kissing in that scene!
J.R. and Sue Ellen. That picture brings a tear to my eye.
John Ross and Pamela
Harris and his mother.

I was going to mention Sue Ellen and Peter Richards but then realized I was in the Dallas TNT Universe
John Ross and PamBecca, but only if his affair with Emmabeech was retconned as a nightmare of his...or of hers.
Oh well I did a poll for favorite couple on the original Dallas board too. So go ahead and vote in that poll as well if you haven't already.
these two could have been the next Jr and sueellen if the cards were right
Yeah the writers completely dropped the ball with John Ross & Pamela Rebecca, also if this poll is anything to go on they were the second most popular couple after JR/SE on this show. So really the writer's made a huge mistake in season three when they messed up their story.
I voted for Christopher and Heather because, as I posted in another thread, I think their relationship was unexplored and actually made Christopher likeable. Of course, I adore J.R. and Sue Ellen but their relationship (sadly) didn't feature very romantically in the TNT version. I also adored Josh and Julie's chemistry as John Ross and Pamela (I actually rooted for them as a pair from that early scene in season 1, when John Ross blackmailed her) but the writers screwed it up. It's like Cidre was determined to write them as J.R. and Sue Ellen but even bigger and badder - except, it was just so off the scale that it wasn't believable.
There was no hope of any couple coming close to JR and Sue Ellen, before or since.
I vote for them. There was magic between them even on TNT when they weren't officially together. They will always be a couple to me.
Your avatar brings a tear to MY eye.
JR and Sue Ellen! Then John Ross and Pamela! I find it very interesting that Nu Dallas was supposed to be about the younger generation. But when it comes to couples JR and Sue Ellen are by far the favorite. It also would not surprise me if JR and Sue Ellen are more popular than the younger charactors!
JR and Sue Ellen were not a couple on New Dallas
John Ross and Rebamela have won the poll.
They would have been a couple again if Larry hadn't died.
Besides I think they had some couple moments.
But yeah John Ross and Pamela Rebecca are by far the most popular couple of the younger generation.
JR and Sue Ellen of course. I wish they cold have had more scenes together.
I voted for John and Pamela. I also agree with most here the writers screwed up their relationship. I've mentioned elsewhere this couple should have quietly married away from Dallas and the opening episode had the extended Ewing/Barnes family gather at Southfork. John Ross and Pamela arrive and make their announcement. The entertainment value would then come from JR and Cliff, determined to separate this young married couple. Sue Ellen would have felt wedged as she attempted to protect her son and Afton could have remained in Dallas to support her daughter. All these outside influences determined to break John Ross and Pamela but despite it all they remain strong and committed.
Now sit back ladies and gentlemen and enjoy this little gem from TNT Dallas.
And Pamela - like the original - held her own.
