Mickey Trotter. It touched upon so many themes and it gave Lucy and Ray some of their best scenes of the series. The whole arc was so gripping and it did seem grounded in reality and plausible. I can still hear Lucy shouting at Sue Ellen in the hospital. "You're not satisfied with ruining your own life, you have to ruin everyone else's, too!" I thought it really captured what the show was so much about.

JR's death in TNT Dallas didn't have the emotional impact I was hoping for. I felt sad when I heard Larry had passed since I grew up with "I Dream Of Jeannie" and of course "Dallas." But JR's funeral didn't hit me emotionally because it felt so detached from Southfork. I also felt contempt for the writers as they believed the Ramos family should be in attendance. Carmen Ramos should have been back at Southfork vacuuming and dusting.

Interesting how we perceive a characters death will impact us. Much like Larry's death I was fascinated how the writers were going to handle the death of Jim Davis. It was evident Jim's health was failing. A real pity because after appearing as secondary characters to the main stars during his early acting career he suddenly finds a role where he IS the standout. Life can be cruel sometimes.

Personally I don't believe Jim's passing had a detrimental effect on Dallas. The way the writers wove his death into the series gave Barbara Bel some of her best scenes. Jock's death also impacted the story-line for the next few seasons; the contest for Ewing Oil being the main one. I look back at those seasons as the best years of Dallas. I also liked how they kept Jock's presence around, either at Southfork or Ewing Oil.

Whenever I've watched Digger Barnes's death scene I always think how similar it is to the one in which Bobby died. Both are set in hospital, the camera angles are similar and they do close ups of the family's reactions in the same way. They cut to Pam, who cries the same way in both, they cut to Ellie who is close to tears in both, they cut to Cliff for Digger's death in the same way the cut to JR for Bobby's death and after they die, the nurse moves in to make her final checks.

For me, it wasn't Jamie's death that was tragic. It was the death of that awesome car! It would have been funny if Jack was like, "MY CAR!!! NOOO!! Oh, wait, uh, I mean...JAMIE!!"

Yeah, it would have been nice if Mandy had gotten hit by that car and died, sparing me from all of those stupid hot tub and creepy makeout scenes with Mandy's mouth hanging open and constantly yelling "Oh, JR!" like some annoying porn star or something.

Unfortunately not! For me, that is. lol. But at least his shower revival also brought Katherine back from the dead.

As much as I like her, I thought that Katherine's "death" was very well done. A lot more realistic than the other deaths, because everyone knows that people usually don't die with their eyes closed! Bobby's "death" was also good. And I'm not just saying that because I was glad to see him die. I also liked how it sort of tricked me for a moment, because I actually thought he was going to be okay while he was talking to everyone in the hospital. And almost everyone's (minus Miss Ellie #2) reactions were pretty emotional, especially JR's. It was a good, powerful scene.

Hmm... Now I am thinking that I might like Mark as #1 instead. I mean, the episode was even titled "Resurrection". Can't get much more dramatic than that, right?
