If there are any songs you'd like us to cover in future rounds of Standards, please feel free to suggest them in this thread. The only criterion is that it needs to have been covered enough times to have a number of versions to explore.

I'll keep this first post updated with all your suggestions, adding a strike-through as we cover each song.

I'll try to avoid using the C-word, but how about doing some seasonal songs* all the way through December?

With five or six days per song we can fit in five or even six during the month.

So far, we have just one suggestion: O Holy Night. So I'll be glad to take another four or five festive song suggestions.

*I hate myself a little bit for bringing up this subject when it's still only November, but thought it best to get the suggestions in ahead of time.

I heard this at the weekend on a talent show and it must be 20 years since I last heard this song. I'd love to see it get the SoapChat Standards treatment

Ooh - an excellent choice, Ome. Even off the top of my head I can think of half a dozen versions that I love.

Consider it thrown into the big old pot of Standards to come. :gotcha:

Thanks @Willie Oleson. I'm already excited about some of those.

Just to double-check: would I be right in thinking San Francisco is the song written by John Phillips (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair) and S.O.S. is the ABBA track?

    Yes.

Other songs that could be considered for the Standards thread:

    Venus (Shocking Blue)
    La Bamba
    You Keep Me Hangin' On
    Upside Down (Diana Ross)
    Black Is Black
Bette Davis Eyes (I've found enough versions on secondhandsongs and - as per usual - the ones I already know aren't even listed there).

Oh ye of little faith. :mo:

Those brackets at the beginning do make things a little tricky when putting them into alphabetical order.

Funnily enough I was listening to Céline's version the other day thinking it was far nicer than I remembered it.

There are 40+ versions on SecondhandSongs, so that's a great choice. I'll throw it into our upcoming songs. Thanks Alexis.
